I forgot to mention that I'm using Flex 2 for this project (due to it being a massive, yet old, project), and thus DataGridHeader doesn't exist. I see that Adobe suggests overriding drawHeaderBackground() in this case, but would that not change the entire header, rather than just the column you're putting the mouse over? Hm...
