There are many ways to do what you are trying to do, but you willneed to get further along before we can give more specific help.
One note. You can create a full subclass or Event as Jeffry says, or you can simply use a base Event, with a custonm type name. Any event handler can get a reference to the component instance that dispatched the event through the event.target (and currentTarget) property, and thus to any public property on the dispatching component.
