Gerald:

Much of what has been written here is over my head, but the one question that springs to mind now is: If parts, at least, of DI will be proprietary, will it still be platform neutral, as we were earlier given to understand that it would be?

Actually there is a leader and chief architect. His name is Steve Hicks and
the is the VP of Engineering at FlexRadio. Steve and the team here have
significant work on a written Deep Impact ("DI") architectural design
document that has not been made public. The architectural design concept
is near completion and a significant amount of software prototyping had been
done. Our developers have even remotely controlled a FLEX-5000A over the
Internet using prototype DI software.

However, a few months ago we put the DI development on hold until full
release of PowerSDR 2.0 with support for the FLEX-1500 and FLEX-VU5K. We
plan for DI development to resume with high priority soon after the
aforementioned products are fully supported.
