I've been following this whole discussion with much interest. Since I and I'm sure many others don't have the computer graphics savvy to modify Flex skins let alone design my own from scratch, I'm hoping some of the more talented Flexers out there do freely offer their own original skins to the public. I hope this get this clarified in a suitable manner so the community can start enjoying the work of others willing to share. As I understand it, a lot of Power SDR is built upon suggestions and actual programming from users. Let's make it easy for the folks who want to share skins as well to do so. Also maybe someday someone could do a knowledge base article or a tutorial on how to modify the proprietary Flex skins for one's own personal use and enjoyment. A sort of "skins for dummies" type deal. :-)

Good afternoon Gerald

This leave the door half open for us getting into trouble.
If you say "based on our skins" what does this mean? file size is the same?
using the same color? Picture deminsions? TEXT in the buttons?, Font?, creation
Date?
or anythihng else that may be looked at as the "same" sence the File Names have
to be
the same.
This is just to vauge for most of us to build our own skins which I have done
sence
the very begining of Pretty Betty and may want to distribute them at NO COST.

I guess the safest thing to do is not share our work with other flexers which
is to
bad and stifels the origional intent of what I thought Pretty Betty was going
to allow
us to do but I am sure I didn't understand correctly.

I think there needs to be some CLEAR definations of the things that MUST be
differant
with our own Skins to keep us out of trouble.

73's and would just like a clarification as I am sure others would as well.

David,

If they are based on our skins, they may not be redistributed. However, if
someone creates their own skin from scratch, they may distribute to anyone
they want.

Gerald,

Can those derivative skins then be distributed, free of charge, to other
users for exclusive use on FlexRadio platforms?

Let me provide official clarification.

Any FlexRadio customer may modify the skins to create a derivative work
for
personal use *exclusively *on FlexRadio platforms without violating the
copyright.
