I'm reading all the comments about building DI into a contest program
or building a contest program into DI.
As a non programmer, I know I don't understand what you are
proposing/asking for.
I operate 3 ways:
Contesting
DXing
and a rare, very rare rag chew mode.
As I don't submit scores, I can play in contests any way I want.
I use CWSkimmer
I use Cluster
I find that PSDR on one monitor and Contest Program on other work quite
well for me.
With both CWSkimmer and Cluster feeding spots into the Contest Programs
bandmap, I can S&P when I want a specific multiplier or I can just watch
the spots and see the band's propagation paths.
Mostly I prefer to 'Run', for short periods.
Most of the 'Focus' problem is taken care of by 'ConPro' (contest
program) controlling the rig frequency, and transmit/receive cycles.
Slight frequency tweaking done by HotWheels mouse wheel.
I mouse over to PSDR less and less these days.
So my question is..."Wouldn't building a contest program INSIDE DI be
re-inventing the wheel?"
Now if it would cure latency, occasional DPC delays, and some of those
slight 'bumps in the night'.
That would be one thing.
But wouldn't that still be 'computer horsepower' dependent? Is there a
computer, in a price range I can afford, even available that can do that.
Personally I don't use the panadaptor for contesting OTHER than looking
for a clear spot to 'Run'.
Callsigns floating over panadaptor blips seem redundant to 'ConPro'
bandmaps.
Now DXing mode....that's a horse of a different color.
Then I'm a Console Jockey, tweaking for best signal, bandwidth, filter,
etc. etc. Anything to better my chance of making the qso.
As for rag chewing, that's more or less a, create a profile, and leave
it alone situation.
Or am I missing the obvious.
My XYL says I do that a lot. Like daily!
