I have installed quite a few Win7 x86 systems and the only time I have seen the need to fall back to the legacy drivers was in a laptop. Its mainly a situation where the standard driver doesn't work, not an optimization technique! I think with the Lucent chipset, you are better off with the LSI driver unless your Flex isn't working at all with it, then try the Legacy driver.
