Based on a suggestion from Greg, I started looking at the ADC-L/ADC-R RX1
meter readings yesterday because I suspect that there may be situations
where I'm saturating the ADC on 6M. I'm running PSDR 2.0.0 with a Flex
5000A. On 6M I have an ARR preamp with a measured gain of 26 dB followed by
an 8 dB attenuator. This gives me the best weak signal performance in my
typical local noise environment.
Here's the interesting observation. With a 96 kHz sample rate, NB1 and NB2
off, -100 dBm (S 4.5) power line noise and no detectable 6M signals in the
bandpass, the ADC readings were about -28 dBFS. When I turn on both noise
blankers (default settings), the ADC drops to about -48 dBFS. I suspect
that the ADC meter samples are being picked up after the noise blanker
rather than before it. Shouldn't the ADC meter readings be independent of
anything that happens after the ADC (NB, BW, etc)?
