Good questions that deserve a list reply.

The ability to use different data folders (that contain the PowerSDR database)
is not hardware specific. So yes, a FLEX-3000 folder will work too. BUT
there is a caveat with a FLEX-3000 and a FLEX-5000 on the same PC. When using
one, the other can NOT be powered up at the same time. PowerSDR has no way to
tell (enumerate) between two Firewire based FLEX-x000 SDRs connected to the
same PC and powered up at the same time.

OK. Here is where things get a little sticky. If a database is used by two
different Firewire based SDRs (either a F3K and a F5K or two different F5Ks or
3Ks), the database architecture is close enough that they are interchangeable.
PowerSDR will just update its information from the radio's EEPROM and all is
well. This is not the case with a FLEX-1500 and a Firewire based FLEX-x000.
Once a database is initialized (used) with a FLEX-1500, there can be problems
using it with a FLEX-x000 (and the converse is true too.)

Therefore when you setup a FLEX-1500 database, I would not transfer the STATE
data to it from a FLEX-x000 database using Ray's utility unless Ray has
validated that STATE data can be transfer from a FLEX-x000 database to a
FLEX-1500 database without any problems.

This situation is known to the developers and there are discussions underway to
mitigate this problem. What the final solution will be and when it will be
available in PowerSDR v2.x is not known at this time.

This is good. I suspect the same holds true for the 3K - setup a
folder for the 3K like the 1500 and 5K.

Another question. I have my filters defined so if I use Ray's utility
to copy the "state" information will this cause problems between the
various dbs - 1500, 3K, and 5K - by copying data that could cause
problems between the three platforms?

thanks Don
