Hi Burke,

I also use the CK1610 relay box. I paid extra and had mine delivered assembled. The CK1610 is supported by the Ham Radio Integrator software. The HRI software (previously called ATAUTO) is available in the files section of N3ZH_Software yahoo group.

I use relays 1 to 6 to auto-band switch my amplifier.
I use relay 7 to turn on/off my amplifier.
That leaves relay 8 currently unused.

I need to look into how to add two wires to the Flex 5000a's power switch.

Howard

Hi to all,

I have been using the 5K remotely for about a year now. I have read the threads
on the subject.? I also connected a pair of wires from the power button? to the
outside of the box and terminated it with a mini jack.? The power switch inside
the box is a little confusing as when you first look at it it seems simple but
its a little more complicated. I wound up looking at the schematic for the 5k,
found the part number and then the vendor. I downloaded the electrical and
PHYSICAL picture of the switch.? If anyone is interested , I can forward the
info via email.

For the rest of the installation I purchased a com port controlled relay box
from a place called Carl's Kits on the West coast.? the item is CK1610.? It has
8 possible relay connections to it. It comes with a little utility program to
turn the individual relays open and closed. I use one set of contacts to
operate the 5K power switch and then I bought a 120 volt power strip from Radio
Shack.? I split the neutral of the strip and used a second set of contacts to
turn the power on and off to the power strip.? My power supply for the 5K plugs
into the strip.

By doing this I am able to turn the power supply on and off and then operate
the power button for the 5K.

This setup has worked without fault for almost a year.?? I use log me in.com
for remote control of the PC and use Skype for the audio.?? I use Com 0 Com for
the virtual ports.

Hope this helps anyone interested in running the 5K remotely.? I use a logiteck
boom set with my laptop. It cost around $30. and the audio reports I receive a
great.

Regards,

Burke K1BJS
