Do you change the settings in the "Global Settings" that is labelled
Sample Rate? I have questioned that my 5000A filters are not as sharp
as the 3000 I had a year or so ago, what is the best settings for
sharp SSB filters? Is it correct that the RX Buffer Size in the DSP
menu effects filter sharpness? I set mine to 4096 (max).

You did not assume incorrectly. Those are exactly the benefits of using lower
sampling rates; lower latency and sharper filter skirts (assuming the DSP
buffers stay the same). The downside is that you cannot "see" as much of the
RF spectrum due to the lower sampling rate.

I routinely use 1024 x 96KHz on my FLEX-5000/3000 because it provides the best
compromise for phone & digital modes which is what I primarily operate.

Subject: [Flexradio] 48000 v 96000 Sample Rate

  Hi folks,

Is there any benefit to running 48000 kps over 96000 bandwidth on the flex. My
current settings is 1024 x 96000. I would assume (maybe
wrongly) that 48000 would provide less latency and perhaps better filtering?

Regards

Dave
