Since it has been several weeks since our last Beta software was released to
FlexEdge, I wanted to update everyone on our status. We have continued
working hard on PowerSDR and have some significant achievements:

1. We have integrated the new FLEX-1500 driver into PowerSDR. This new
driver no longer appears as a sound card to Windows so it prevents Windows
from treating the radio as just another sound device. This solves a
plethora of installation and operational issues.
2. We have updated PowerSDR to accommodate the FLEX-VU5K VHF/UHF module
which adds two new bands to the FLEX-5000, 144MHz and 432/440MHz, both with
all of the filtering and panadapter technology available on all HF bands
3. We have continued to integrate updates to PowerSDR that have arisen from
your testing and ideas

There has been tremendous focus and effort on all of these and our key goal
is to release software that works for you "right out of the box." Our
software development process still has us producing software releases about
every two weeks, at which point we begin testing what we have produced. We
have a great group of testers both inside and outside of FlexRadio (we have
more than 30 individuals that test our software before it makes it to your
desktop). Due to the magnitude of changes involved in the first couple of
items I mentioned, we want to be sure that you do not experience any
significant problems when you upgrade to the latest Beta software. In this
spirit, we have gone to great lengths to make the upgrade in the FLEX-1500
seamless. With the latest release of software that we will get into your
hands, we will upgrade the FLEX-1500 firmware, driver and software all
"automatically" as part of the installation of PowerSDR and running the
radio for the first time with the new software. This really is no small
feat (absent the mechanics, it's a little like changing the track, wheels
and engine on the train without a problem), but we feel it is important so
you can spend your time on the air, not installing software.

All of these changes are in the hands of our testing group and we are
receiving very positive feedback. We continue to be impressed with the
efforts of our testers and their abilities helping us improve our software.
I hope to be writing you again very soon with news of a software update you
can download and install. Thanks so much for all your great ideas and
comments about our products and for all your continued support.

73,
Steve
