That you can run multiple instances of Fldigi on the same computer that have
their own independent settings? Neither did I until this weekend.

Now that you can run multiple instances of PowerSDR controlling two different
types of radio hardware (a FLEX-1500 and a FLEX-x000), I was looking for a way
to run both using digital modes. Like PowerSDR's "-datapath:[path]" runtime
argument feature (http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50469.aspx),
Fldigi has the same capability using the "-config-dir [path] runtime argument.

I created two copies of the Fldigi user specific application data folder
(fldigi.files) called fldigi.1500 and fldigi.3000 in the same location
(C:\Users\<user_name>) for the FLEX-1500 and FLEX-3000 respectively.

Then you create a new desktop shortcut and modify the target to tell Fldigi
what data folder to use. An example of the one I use for the FLEX-3000 is
shown below. In addition to the --config-dir runtime argument, there is
another useful one, the "-ti" runtime argument for adding txt to the Fldigi
Title bar. This makes for quick identification which instance of Fldigi is
associated with which radio.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Fldigi-3.20.28\fldigi.exe" --config-dir
"C:\Users\W4TME\fldigi.3000" -ti FLEX-3000

You will need a separate pair of VAC "cables" and a virtual com port pair for
the second instance of the PowerSDR/Fldigi combination, but that is a fairly
straightforward configuration modification.

With this new found setup, I have been running both radios connected to the
same antenna running the frequency analysis mode in Fldigi while receiving WWV.
After changing the DDS offset for each radio to fine tune the frequency
calibration, it is interesting to watch the frequency variation over time
between a FLEX-3000 and a Rb clock disciplined FLEX-1500.
