Looking at the description of what was fixed , I believe this Hotfix was to
fix the BSOD’s that we had on Win 7 64 earlier on (late 2009 and early
2010).

My quick test shows it does not fix raspy audio, I can still reproduce that
at will.

What’s curious is that Drax has a newer version of 1394ohci.sys than the hot
fix, I’d like to find out what that’s about (ie the date on the file)

So…. Fallback young man is still the Mantra.

I’m going to continue to track down what’s goin’ on with 1394ohci.sys ..
They gotta fix it someday !!

I think thats one of many reasons we are telling everyone on Windows 7 to
fall back to the legacy firewire driver. BTW, even if your device manager
says its the TI 1394 driver (or Lucent...) its still 1394OHCI.sys and has
major problems.

Fallback young man!

There is a MS firewire hotfix KB981613 that was issued in April 2010.

After seeing Drax’s email about finding a newer rev, I poked around a bit
and found this Hotfix.

I checked prior emails in the reflectors and knowledge center and find no
reference to it so I thought I’d publish here.

I have installed and started testing
