Re: [FlexEdge] Wish List Items for HRD
Well, I should agree with every item here written. Starting from standardization of whatever could be standardized by us at ours level. IF anything could be done better why not. But, not to be silly, I should say that those ancient features that have made the sound of ours activity may remain the same or better implemented since V 0.001 of anything new. At least with a clear road map to a new implementation. What's is scaring me it's to loose all those nifty and pretty perspective of use we have today inside ours main applications. I couldn't live without all the automation tasks that are built or buildable in N1MM, all the control that are inside MTTY (even the surging TPF, the great set of demodulator with all theirs parameterizations ) nor without the HRD-Logger and HRD Utilities or DM780 for exotics digital modes. All simple but effective, not to say how many hours of work all ours friends have spend making and shaping all those things ... All those things and more other that I forgot to write here but I use every day or every time I am in needs, are to be maintained and reimplemented trough the winds of changes that, I strongly hope, we are facing.

Let alone ad forget those silly RS232 port or PC audio interfaces it's a meritorious perspectives. Forget and sink all the timing issues having not to deal forth and back not usefully with those device drivers, gibberish. But, as several things things are already in place and working there must be a path to have it in a new and well integrated "from RF to LoTW" and back, just as example. This path is out of any proposed standardization, it will be, it must be, a cooperative workmanship all around ours HAM SDR/Loggers stuffs.

So, please don't forget that out of the markets there are things that work and that doesn't work for us HAM. About this I remember that some of the SDR RX are nice, but all the syncs and automation task are still under development after years. Why for the hell I need to set my filters preferences by hands each time without a CAT command or even without the way to send all those commands I need. SDR look like radio without buttons and knobs, but just because somebody needs these it's not the right way to implements just the picture of it, without "software" commands for it (i.e.).

This is my cry, I know that I will stay tied with VSPE, VAC and other bits and pieces for a LOT. Software is really the stone on the road to SDR usage. All the mimics of the last world are shorting the time for the new world.

We will see ... thanks for reading, in the hope that my non native English was clear enough.
