Richard, For this to work, you can only power up one radio at a time. You can do this ONLY if you to use 2 different firewire ports on the PC. You cannot simply "daisy-chain" the FLEX-3000 off of the FLEX-5000.
The 2 firewire connectors on the FLEX-5000 are NOT wired straight-through but are connected via on-board buffers in the radio. Therefore, daisy-chaining the firewire from the PC to the FLEX-5000 to the FLEX-3000 would require that the FLEX-5000 be powered on all the time.
