v1.18.6 drops characters and the side tone delay is ridiculous to the
point where it actually affects the CW being sent due to it being so far
behind.
v2.x also drops characters, has the same side tone delay and NR/ANF/NB
don't work.
Full break-in CW doesn't work on any version.
I'm using a Quad core AMD Phenom II 3.4Ghz with 4GB RAM, WinXP and an
approved Firewire card.
Been through all this nonsense a million times, the problem is with the
software not the PC.
When my friends visit they say to me "Why do you still have that blue
piece of junk on your shelf?"
I have to explain to them that I can't sell it because no one wants it
due to the poor reputation they have in Europe.
I can't replace it because I wasted all my money on it and the fast PC
to drive it only to find it doesn't do what the advertisements say it will.
The reseller says it's not their problem, talk to Flex Radio, Flex Radio
don't want to know either, this is the way it is in France.
As my friends warned me before I bought it, "Flex radio is just another
faceless enterprise who will take your money and deliver nothing"
and unfortunately for me they were correct!

Hmmmmmmm.....
I have had the F3K for about 14 months now. I took it with me to Bequia last
January, where I operated as J8K2CM. I used the version of PSDR that came with
the radio. The laptop was a dual core Dell....about 3 years old.
I worked only CW on 40 meters because the noise level in the phone portion of
40, and all portions of 20 meters made those bands unusuable. Apparently there
was a problem with the power line that was about 100 feet from the antenna. I
didn't have any problems with CW at all on 40 meters. I was even able to
handle the pileups! Was able to separate the stations that were just 25-30HZ
apart. Exciting!
The main purpose of the trip was scuba diving, so I worked CW in the evenings.
Made over 300 CW contacts and 2 phone contacts when I had time to operate.
I also have an F5K that I used up until October 2010 when I moved to a
temporary apartment and had to take the station down. I used the latest beta
version available at that time. I did experience some character delays with
the beta; but, was able to adjust the sampling rate and buffer sizes to
eliminate the problem.
Am sorry that your F3K is sitting on the shelf. If you are really frustrated,
let us know and maybe one of us can horsetrade for a rig that we no longer use.
(I have an FT857D in the box. Was going to take the 857 to J8 land; but,
couldn't get sufficient CW separation to handle the pileups.)
The temperature is supposed to reach 50F this weekend, so expect to get an
antenna up at our new house in Vestal, NY and be back on the air with the F3K
and F5K.
Oh yes, I do have a complaint about the new PSDR. The screens that come with
the beta are terrible. Tough on my eyes, so I created my own graphics for the
areas that bothered me. (Yes, we've been thru this subject before....its no
longer an issue with me.)
