I did another round of tests relating to the microphone, but this time I simply used the record/playback function.

What I'm using is a condenser microphone. When the unit that inserts the phantom is unplugged the problem still exists. But when I re-tested by simply unplugging the mic from the cable, the problem goes away. So, I think the on-air report of unplugging the microphone was in error and caused me some misdirection in looking for the cause... and cause a lot of chokes on the mic cable too.

The problem appears to exist on-the-air with 2 meters (no 440 antenna up at the moment) and HF, but I have not received any reports about it on HF. I can see the issue on HF and DEXP tends to mask out most of the noise. On 2-meters there is a slightly higher pitched noise which makes it more obvious.

Another V/U issue (no comments last time I posted it)

I'm getting reports of artifacts, or as some have stated, a carrier on 2-meter SSB. Is this a known issue or an issue with only my rig?

The comments are that I have excellent audio but in speech gaps there is an artifact (or carrier depending on the person reporting). The artifact exists with or without the Microphone. My assumption is that it is known issue so I have not been concerned.

If this is a new issue I could have Ray record it via his 1500 and send in the .WAV file.

Is this an already known problem?
