A while back I read on this forum that someone had operated their 1500 using
an Eee pc just like the one I have. That and liking QRP like I do, I
thought what a great portable station that would be. I worked several hours
trying to complete a loading of the Flex soft ware using the supplied disc.
Not even close. I went on line and down loaded the latest Flex soft ware and
had no better luck. I'm sure most of the problem is me and not the
Flex-1500. The world fatal always came up followed by some computer talk
that I knew nothing about. I like using the computer as a tool, not as an
experimental device so I'm not even close to a computer whiz. I really
want this to work, without playing with the software. I guess what I'm
asking can anyone direct me to a laptop that cost no more than $400. that
would work out of the box. I have been looking on line at Bestbuy at two of
their laptops that go for $350. each. One is a Gateway AMD c series and is
a 64 bit machine. The other is the Toshiba Satellite model with the AMD e
series processor and too is a 64 bit machine. If I can not purchase a
computer that works out of the box then I'm stumped. Thanks in advance,
Charles/KI5AZ
