Hi Mike

No, if you are on Vista or XP you do not need the Legacy driver. If you are
using XP however you do need the infamous XP firewire patch for speed
control.

If you go to Start->Control Panel->Device Manager and expand the 1394
device, it will say 1394 OHCI Legacy Controller or some such working. If it
doesn't say legacy, its not legacy.

But again, this only is needed on Windows 7 machines.
