You are prompted by the Installer software to power off your radio.

Thanks Dudley

I will admit that I didn't turn my radio off . I don't recall seeing a mention
of having to do that (or when) in the notes, or any prompt during install.
Perhaps that caused my fatal error.

Subject: Re: [FlexEdge] Announcing PowerSDR v2.0 Official Release

Stan and others,

Seems the largest cause of failures with the 2.0.x updates has been startup
timing issues, when to turn on the radio or forgot to turn the radio off
before the update. Here are some of the causes I have noted..

1. With the 1.18.6 version and the 7171 version of FW previously installed,
Failure to uninstall the previous version of FW driver, 3.5.0.7171 version of
the FlexRadio Driver via the add/remove programs and then to forget to
reboot BEFORE the installation.

2. With a previous version of the 2.0.x beta installed, forgetting to turn
the radio OFF. before the installation.

3. If you had a 2.0.16 or later version already installed, no FireWire update
will be loaded, but you do need the radio(s) turned off.

4. On the Reboot, not giving enough time for the FireWire Windows driver to
install before starting the radio, you must give the computer plenty of time
for all the updates and other "Stuff" to finish before turning on the radio..

5. Once the radio is turned on, you must wait for the three drivers (five
drivers for the 1500) to get installed, this might take 2 minutes or longer.
Biggest thing is to wait for the "Your New HW is ready to use"
message. Now if you had the previous 10185 version of the FW driver previously
installed, you most likely will not receive this message.

6. Open the FlexRadio Driver icon FIRST before PowerSDR is started to make
sure that the radio is being seen correctly by the FW driver. If your
radio is not showing up in the FW driver, you will need to get this working
first.. Otherwise when you start PowerSDR, you will only see the Demo mode.

7. If the radio is in the FW driver, but the radio chooser is not either
showing the radio or showing up with a grayed "Use" button, you need to
reset the Master.xml file. Go to Run => type %appdata% => OK , then
to FlexRadio Systems folder and delete the "master.xml" . This file will
be recreated when PowerSDR is started.. Be sure to have the radio on!

Give the radio plenty of time to be discovered, either with the USB or with
the FireWire, sometimes it takes longer than you think...

On another note... If you see a message that says that the receiver must
be recalibrated, BEFORE clicking OK, remove ALL the antennas.. This
runs the RX Image test to re-calibrate the radio, but you need all the
antennas removed to keep strong signals from effecting the Image test.

Hope this helps some that are having issues.

Dudley

I can add that I have had that fatal error problem with every one of the later
upgrades. I have had to do the driver uninstall and then uninstall the software
and then reinstall 3-4 times. Eventually it runs fine. Have no idea why.

Did you uninstall the Firewire driver first as recommended in the release notes?
