Our radio club, K2OQ operated as class "3F" for field day this past weekend.
I brought my F5K to our site and worked mostly 40Mtr CW. The band was crowded on Saturday evening...just like the "old days". I set the tuning increments to 50HZ, and the bandwith to 100HZ. I would work a station, move up 50-100HZ, work another, move up and so forth! Even with stations S9+20DB nearby I was able to separate out the stations. The issue that I had was that the stations on the other end, most likely without a Flex, were experiencing a lot of "near frequency" QRM and had to ask for a lot of repeats. It was a delight using the Flex! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do admit that my computer froze up twice; not due, however, to the F5K or PSDR. Our 20Mtr phone station decided to put the KW amplifier on line for a couple of contacts. I had no RF ground, and no ferrite cores on the cables, and I was 10 ft away. When he transmitted using the KW everything went KaFlooie! Next time, will ground my station to the common tower ground, and put RF cores on all cables. Thanks FlexRadio!
