I ordinarily defer to Neal's experience and expertise in about 50 milliseconds but I do not understand his reasoning with respect to the need for two computers, at least in the ordinary home setting. If one were running a business out of the front bedroom, I might feel differently about it. Another instance would be one in which the XYL or the house apes wanted to use the computer whilst daddy was contesting his arse off.
Otherwise, why bear the expense and bother of maintaining two machines? Create different user accounts, even different drives/drive arrays, if you need to feel some degree of separation. It is the loss of data that one needs be most concerned about, not the failure of hardware, which is cheap and readily replaceable. And data can be protected every bit as well on a single machine as on two. At least that's the way I see it.
