Hi Willi - I was getting just the same problem. I was using Release v1.2.0 and when I installed v1.4.2 I found I couldn't calibrate the S-meter fom my -70dBm signal source. I was also getting error messages that the signal was less than 30dB above the noise floor when I tried to calibrate the frequency. I was using ASIO4ALL v2 -- and the problems disappeared when I installed ASIO4ALL v1.8 as recommended.

Eric,
Thanks for your problemsolving hint. I did not use a signal source and just
entered -120 dB as level in the calibration section as usual in previous
program versions. I have downloaded the latest operation manual but did not
have the time to digest all of it.

Willi,
How are you calibrating the rig? If you are not using a signal source for the
level calibration, then this is likely just a calibration issue. Try
calibrating on a strong signal by just guesstimating the value of the peak.
Try to get the noise floor of the spectrum down around -130ish and you'll be
fairly close (+/- 10dB).

Without a signal source, some changes that we made in the 1.3.x Beta series
make it tough to calibrate accurately. The old method of just connecting to a
dummy load and using -120dB will no longer be accurate and is being taken out
of the manual/quick start guide.

Eric

 Subject: [Flexradio] S-Meter

 Hi all,

I am having problems with the RX Meter readings with different preamp settings:

 Preamp off, no antenna connected:

 Noise floor -125, S-Meter bar graph+60, S-Meter numerical +30 dBM

 Preamp low

Spectrum disappears, S-Meter bar graph 2.5, S-Meter numerical -110 dBM

 Preamp Medium

 Noise floor -145, S-Meter bar graph +60, S-Meter numerical +10 dBM
 Preamp High

Spectrum disappears, S-Meter bar graph +0.5, S-Meter numerical -126 dBM

We had a lot of qrn here lately and may be a part of the front end is
damaged. Any hint where to start fault tracing is welcomed.
