Harold and the group:

This is good news but what you have been describing to me sounds more like "interference". The interference is inside the computer with some other application and/or some setting. There should be nothing in the hardware that "warms up" and stops the audio from having glitches unless you have a hardware problem that would make it necessary to take soldering iron action!

Your experience of 6%-10% is exactly what I see here and things are improved in the daily builds.

We have been making steady headway against the vagaries of the Microsoft operating system, audio drivers, etc. The lastest build, which is made available by me every morning on the hamsdr svn servers if there have been source code changes in the previous 24 hours, is thing people might want to try. I suggest this because we have swapped over to the latest and greatest FFTW (fftw3.1.1) , which is at the heart of our system and I have noticed that it produces different "wisdom", the code of SSE/SSE2/3DNOW has changed and appears improved (this is the hardware that makes Intel and AMD processors do our kind of math very quickly) and the more folks that test my MinGW/MSYS build of the new fftw version the happier I will be about working out the final details on the release of 1.6.1. 1.6.1 will include the new FFTW, major improvements in Virtual Audio Cable support (I do mean major), and final "numbers" for the Presonus settings.

We are really doing much more testing, interim building, etc. OFF of the web page. We are done FOREVER with releasing alpha and beta level code via the web interface.

Has anyone published notes on HOW people can install svn, tortoisesvn, and then download the "daily stuff"? The documentation is changed as we go now, and there are other things that make this interesting. We do need to document this in a "user guide to our SDR and SVN servers". Please someone let me know if this has not been done.

*I had just sent off my last transmittal about seeking help with my new radio/computer configuration and reached over to "un-mute" the radio when guess what? For some unapparent reason, things have totally settled down and there are NO INTERRUPTS!!!!!!!!! HOLY MOLEY folks........

However, I do have a possible reason why. I have had that particular radio off for several days now with no power going to it what so ever. I am fully aware that there are some stability issues with SDR-1000 during at least the first 15-20 minutes. I just never noticed them manifest in this manner or means with any of the other machines.

Well, you all know much more than me. I still would like to see what **it is **like running things in either of the two aforementioned environments. One very GOOD thing is that the CPU usage is down to just above 10% with most of the time 6-8%. What an improvement. I will try to report back with any further developments, issues, conflicts...........whatever. The next thing here is going to be to see if my RFI problems still exist now that I have gone totally to Solid State Amps (SSA). I have two, almost identical SSA's utilizing 8 - 2879 PA transistors. One is capable of just under the legal limit and the other, due to design compromises, can achieve 800-900 watts PEP out. Basically, there is no clinically significant difference between the realized received signals. After some extensive detective work, on and off the antenna, it is apparently in the feed lines into and out of the amps. About to try some double shielded coax and a bunch of ferrites......... WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS..........

Still looking forward to your thoughts, comment, or admonitions regarding my initial matter. Thanks ahead of time.......
