Years ago I ran a plate modulated rig which had 5 watts of carrier and about 300 watts of audio (W6QYT system) , it was very effective. As for inverted audio, one of our bunch experimented with that too, it was supposed to make tuning a DSB signal easer if you didn't have a selective receiver. W8XO
