Thinkpads (and some other IBM computers) used 3A8 for the LPT1 printer port
address. Most other comptuers use 378 as the LPT1 base address. I used to
use a lot of Thinkpads for programming while using the parallel port, and I
had to put in the option for which base address to use. I still have two
old Thinkpads in addition to Dells and other brands, and therefore must
still support both parallel port addresses in whatever I write that twiddles
printer port bits.

PowerSDR value. My first time using PowerSDR was with a thinkpad and the
default in the bios was nothing like any address I had ever seen, I changed
the value and it came right up
