Rob Sherwood has an SDR-1000. He has not hooked it up for testing the last time he was asked (two day before Dayton). Given Rob's Sherwood's talk at Dayton, I was asked at the Flex forum to describe the AGC. Based on my description of our AGC, some tests were run by independent people but the bottom line was the SDR-1000/PowerSDR/dttsp v2.0 AGC, all derived from the VK6APH description, with the additional feasture I have added, prevent this difficulty described by Sherwood in his talk.
You cannot believe how many FALSE interpretations I heard of what Sherwood was going to do or say before Dayton. Everything from he is going to trash the SDR-1000 BDR, to he is going to trash the SDR-1000 agc. People, please. Rumor mongering does not do anyone any good. NOTHING like the second paragraph happened and it was never going to happen. It took a wasted few hours to determine that NOTHING in these rumors was truthful and in fact, the bottom line results from OTHERS who have now done the Sherwood test comparing their 7000, 7800, and SDR-1000 shows "we did it right". I will allow others to write up their results but I wanted to point out that rumor mongering is harmful and wasteful of time we need implementing our DSP features. The NICEST THING about the dttsp/PowerSDR digital signal processing is the follow easy attribute: It is open source, many eyes can look, and given a technical description of its implementation, it can be critiqued and IMPROVED by you, me, anyone. LONG LIVE OPEN SOURCE. Try getting that out of your Yaesu, ICOM, Kenwood, Orion, or Elecraft. Bob Neal Campbell wrote: > Did Flex "get it right"?
