The other point to watch is that manufacturers will sometimes change the chip on a board but keep the same model# and UPC, so you can't tell what you are getting without looking at the card -- although the picture or a version# in some minuscule type on the package sometimes reveals the difference. I've seen this happen a lot with network cards, but it may happen with other cards too.
