I ran out of slots and discovered my PCI Express slots as well! I have used the "startech" PCI Express 1X slot for my parallel port to connect to the SDR-1000, works great! Used in a few Dell XPS computers here.
Here is an ebay number to search on showing the startech card... 320146049041 I have no connection with the ebay seller, the auction is shown here for an example. Lots of folks selling them, I think I got mine from the PC-Connection actually. For what its worth, never had a blip with the card. 73 and GL Mike - KM0T -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David Hilton-Jones Sent: Monday, August 13, 2007 2:04 PM To: flexradio Subject: [Flexradio] PCI express advice I am being driven demented by the repeated daily dropping out of my USB-parallel adaptor. When I bought the SDR-1K I bought a new computer. If I'd known the problems I was going to have I'd have bought one with a parallel port, but I didn't. My Dell Dimension E521 has two PCI slots - one is used for the Delta soundcard and the other for a modem (we live in the Styx, can't get Broadband and so have to use dial-up!). I am therefore using USB and the adaptor. I have today fitted a powered USB hub, but the problem remains. I've just realised I've got a PCI-express x1 slot, and that parallel cards are available for that. I'm a computer illiterate and would appreciate advice as to whether that will solve my problem, or would I just be creating new ones. I am so fed-up with the USB-parallel adaptor problem that I'm on the verge of asking for my money back as the kit is not "fit for purpose" and it has seriously affected why earlier positive thoughts about Flexradio - especially as the latest version of Power SDR(Beta v1.9.1) won't even run with the wretched adaptor and nobody at Flexradio seems interested in solving that problem and producing new software. I'm blowed if I have to get another computer with a parallel port to solve the problem. I don't think my problems are all due to my computer illiteracy, but help and advice would be much appreciated. 73 David, G4YTL _______________________________________________ FlexRadio mailing list [email protected] http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ _______________________________________________ FlexRadio mailing list [email protected] http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
