Can anybody using Ozzy/Janus provide a comparison to the "standard" D44
or FA66 sound cards?

Subjective/qualitative comparisons are fine... I'm just curious,

Good question Peter and if I spend so much money to buy the SDR 1000, isn't
the D44 or the FA66 enough.
I think the idea of the Ozzy/Janus is great for long term plans for
expanding.
It's a good thing you ask the question as I have been thinking to myself as
to which way to go.
It's hard earned money for me let alone buying the 500A or the Elecraft K3.

Question 2: What power level should I set on the Flex for PSK31 and FSK170?

Somebody warned me never to send PSK at full power, so I set the Flex power
to 40 watts.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

For 100 watts up to 40 watts is a good choice. Remember PSK31 and FSK170
transmission is something like 100 duty cycle and it's you finals that you
want to keep them cool and safe.
Even if you keep it down further to say 20 to 30 watts so much the better as
you can still work the world on 25 watts PSK with a dipole at a decent
height in the clear.
If we can't see or hear the signal on the waterfall you don't expect to work
the other station except in the case of OLIVIA mode.
You have to experience it to have the feel for it.
