This has been a most interesting weekend. I received my new Flex 5000A last
Wednesday, and had no difficulty in getting it installed and on the air in
about an hour. Very impressive piece of work. Congratulations Flex.
Wanted to use the 5000 in Sweepstakes CW this weekend, so got busy and
installed vCom to share CAT data with a logging program (N3FJP), and used my
MicroHam Microkeyer to send CW from the N3FJP logging program through the
K1EL winkeyer in the Microkeyer to the 5000. Worked great! Also installed
VAC and CWGet 1.60 as an aid in receiving the 30+ wpm CW, and that worked
super also. Life is good!
Then Sunday afternoon, I heard KL8C for the Alaska section, but when I tried
to send my callsign, nothing happened. The keyer showed that it was sending,
but the radio did nothing. I tried sending directly into the 5000 with
paddles, and again nothing. The radio did not key and there was no output
indicated either on the 5000 or on the LP-100 wattmeter in line with the
antenna. What is this?
I switched over to a dummy load, and switched to SSB on 40M, and keyed the
radio with the MOX button on PowerSDR. No microphone was plugged into the
radio, yet the wattmeter showed output. I enabled the monitor button and
tried MOX again. I heard a female voice saying "Trial, trial". Where in the
world was that coming from?
But CW keying would still not work, and the KL8 eluded me. I was so bummed I
shut everything down and called it a day.
This morning I uninstalled all software associated with the 5000 and started
over again. The Flex 5000 driver installed and configured just like the doc
said to do it. But when I tried to install PowerSDR 1.10.3, I get a Fatal
Error that reports the following:
The specified module could not be found.
at PowerSDR.DB.Create()
at PowerSDR.DB.Init()
at PowerSDR.Console.ctor(String[]args)
at PowerSDR.Console.Main (String[]args)
I have tried downloading PowerSDR again and reinstalling, but with the same
results. I tried installing PowerSDR from another copy that I had on the
computer with the same results. I tried installing PowerSDR from the SVN
folder, with the same results.
What in the world is going on here? It probably is something I fatfingered,
but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. Can anyone shed any
light on this?
As Bill likes to say, please and thank you ;o))
