I am running a 5000A into a linear running 1500 watts. On the low bands
I'm using a loop feed with open ladder line to the shack. I have had NO
problems with RFI with my 5000A.

Subject: Re: [Flexradio] 5K HF Lockup

I have been reading this reflector on the 5000a since I ordered one back
in
late September. Based on what I have been reading about these various
lock-up problems probably due to RFI, I am seriously considering
cancelling
my order. Since I plan on using this rig for a few major phone contests
a
year, these sort of reliability problems are of major concern to me.
Especially if is based on RFI, which means that it can't be fixed with
new
firmware. I don't care to spend days trying to play with different
grounding techniques and wrapping leads through many torriods to get it
to
work reliably, when my present IC756Pro had no issues with RFI running
the
full legal limit on any band.

It seems that RFI susceptibility is the Achilles heel of this radio.

I will continue to read the reflector for the next couple of week or 2,
then
make a decision whether to cancel my order. But it's not looking too
promising to me at this time.

Sorry for the negative post, but I am sure that there are others who are
waiting for their 5000a's and have the same concerns.

Thanks for your attention,

Gary - W9BS

Subject: [Flexradio] 5K HF Lockup

I find the 5KA to be an excellent device on 80, 40,M but am having
troubles
on higher frequencies with HF Lockup after transmitting.

It seems that the transmitter stays on and the only way to switch off is
by
removing power from the 5000A then re-booting Power SDR

I have tried extra chokes on all the leads ands using a direct
connection to
a Dummy load as well as various grounding systems - all to no avail.

Has anyone else met this problem and if so what is the solution?.
