I have to chime in and say that the ICE lightning arrestors/static discharge devices have save my shack several times over from EMP living here in central NC. The hose across the street has been hit twice and my home antennas are at a higher elevation.

My 5000 got knocked off the air after a thunderstorm a couple months ago. Last month I sent it to Flex and they repaired it in a couple days and returned it. I put it on the air and it worked like a champ. Two days later another storm took it out again.
