When PowerSDR 1.14.0 (and above) starts, it looks for a CSV (comma separated values) file in the folder where PowerSDR is started from that has a file name of your radio's serial number with the text "backup". For example, mine is "3207-5019 backup.csv". This is a hex dump of the EEPROM data stored in the radio of that serial number. If your EEPROM becomes corrupted, this file can be used to recover the initial hardware calibration data.
If you are getting an error at startup, then the file is not being written properly to the PowerSDR application folder. The reasons why it can't be written could be several. First off look in the application folder and see if there is an existing CSV backup file there. If it is there delete it and restart PowerSDR and see if it gets created properly. Other reason for files not getting created are usually file or folder permissions, user log in restrictions (not an administrator account) or some "security" program that thinks it is doing you a favor by restricting file writes to certain areas of your file system. Also you don't have to wait an hour. The max time it takes for it to dump the EEPROM data is about 3 minutes (usually less). If it doesn't happen by then, go ahead and abort the process. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Val Walker Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 9:03 PM To: Flex Reflector Subject: [Flexradio] EEPROM I have a question for the group. Since I upgraded to PSDR v1.14.0, each time I start my radio (well not every time, but most of the time), I get a pop-up box that say's "Backing Up EEPROM". It has a progress bar and a "abort" button. Nothing happens, so after an hour I press "abort". Has anyone else seeing this? Is this an error or what is going on here? I have: Model 5000A, RFIO board 34B; Software: Firewire v3.2.0.1556, Firmware v1.2.1.10, and PowerSDR v1.14.0 and us WinXP Pro. Every thing else works fine.
