I built a great push button that plugs into the foot switch jack for my flex
that I use with my thumb, this may be a problem though if you are holding
the Mic instead of having it in a Mic stand.
The push button I built consisted of one of the Radio Shack LARGE Body
diameter 1/4" Plug (it mates to the Heil foot switch jack) and one larger
surface area push buttons that Radio Shack has as well, Drilling out the
Shell of the Plug to fit the Bush button and superglue it into place AFTER
soldering wires to the switch that extend out the bottom of the shell then
attach the wires to the 1/4" plug, make sure you put 5 or so counter clock
wise turns in the wire before you screw the Plug together so the wires will
not be fatigued when it is assembled, then just build or buy what ever
length of 1/4" Male / female cable you want to extend the PTT switch to a
convenient operating position
I ran this PTT during field day and had no fatigue on my thumb.
I also have the heil Hand PTT switch and it is a bit to hard to push over a
long time of operating.

Subject: [Flexradio] HM-5 Heil

I use the foot switch with the HM5 and it works like a champ...does not
leave an impression on the foot! I have an F5K and use the front panel jack
with the Yeasu adapter.

Cheers,
