Brian, Yes, the fine tuning is done by ear. However, I use the mouse wheel for that. When operating SSB, I can click on a signal, quickly right-click to turn off the crosshairs, and then use the mouse wheel for fine adjustment of the frequency. In CW or digital modes, I expand the Panadapter to 4x magnification (or greater). At that magnification, there is never any need for fine-tuning.
I find that the mouse wheel gives the same hand-eye coordination feel as the knob without having to move from the mouse to the PowerMate & back. As for using the knob to move quickly from one part of the band to another as well as for fine tuning, you can always program the push-turn functions of the PowerMate to make large frequency changes. If you REALLY want to use the PowerMate for tuning that is. 73, Ray, K9DUR http://k9dur.info _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List [email protected] http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ Message delivered to [email protected]
