Apologies, I'm not explaining this very well -- this is my first
experience with both DDUtil and the N1MM logging software.
What I called the "macro buttons" in the N1MM logger are the buttons
on the logger Entry Window with labels such as "CQ", "Exch", "My Call"
and so forth.
When I connect the logger to PowerSDR directly (i.e., DDUtil is not
acting as an intermediary) then these buttons can can be used to key
the transmitter to send canned messages. This requires setting things
up on the PowerSDR DSP->Keyer form as outlined in step 6 of the
Knowledgebase article "How to Setup the N1MM Logger v7.0.0 with
PowerSDR 1.x". The primary connection I use is the radio itself--this
is for a paddle jacked in to the back of the radio. The secondary
connection is "CAT", the PTT line is "RTS" and the Key line is "DTR".
The secondary connection appears to enable the logger to key the
transmitter.
When DDUtil is the intermediary between the logger and PowerSDR, the
logger buttons no longer key the transmitter, even though DDUtil and
the logger are both correctly responding to changes in frequency, and
the secondary keyer connection is set as described above.
I haven't attempted to introduce CW skimmer into this mixture yet.
