It was I who made them for the group. I currently have 2 available one with the BNC's for the flex at .25dbnf/22.27dbg ($75 + shipping)and a second with N connectors at .39dbnf/22.30dbg ( $60 + shipping).

I'm looking for any recommendations on a good 6M preamp to use with the 5000.
I'm told at one time someone in this list was building one and offering it at a
reasonable price. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated!

Just got my 5000 and I've been doing a lot of listening. I also enjoy Broadcast
Band DX'ing and I'm noticing that the AM Broadcast band performance is very
poor. Local stations can be heard at many images. Is this status quo, or is
there some mod to improve this? I am not hearing any AM broadcast stations in
the amateur bands (thankfully!)

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

A preselector or low pass filter is needed to eliminate images when used below
1.8 MHz.

I got one from DownEast Microwave that worked well in the RX loop. I use SSB
mast-mounted preamps on VHF and above.

I bought an ARR P50VDG last year and it works great.
Put a double male adapter on one end and a short bnc pigtail on the other
for hookup to the 5000.
Mine is ser #2509 so guess they have sold quite a few over the years if they
started at 001.
The gain they specified was clearly visible on the spectrum scale on PwrSDR.

Hi Bob, try reducing your preamp gain, all the way to OFF if necessary.
The BCI Rejection button will also reduce gain and help sometimes.

I'm running a SDR-1000 so your mileage may vary with a Flex 5000.

There is not a "BCI Rejection" feature on the FLEX-x000 or FLEX-1500
SDRs. This was only specific to the SDR-1000.

Thanks Tim...never having owned anything from Flex but my SDR-1000 I
didn't know that!

But I'll have to say that with the SDR-1000 and the right combination of
settings, outboard filters, preamps, and antennas I've been able to hear
everything from 1 watt LOWFERS at 180 KHz to meteor pings above 6
meters! By far my favorite radio in my shack. Someday I'll have a 3000
or 5000...sigh. :)
