I bet you did not remove the previous FW driver and then reboot before the installation of the new FW driver. The FW driver should recognize the radio no matter what firmware was loaded in the radio, the usual problem is that after the uninstall there is not a message telling you that you must reboot before the installation of the new FW driver, just something you have to do with Windows.. Also it's a good ideal to Right Click on the install executable and "Run as Administrator" even if you are logged in with Administrator privileges, but you may not have full rights at that point, so it doesn't hurt and any Window Driver program (FW, VAC, VSP manager, Com0Com, etc) . Use the files from the Flex Home page, this is the released and approved versions. After the FW driver recognizes the radio, then you can update the firmware to the radio, READ the SCREENS, carefully, DON'T give the last "any key" until the internal relay clicks. .

Have been running a F3K successfully for a year - upgrading along the way
to 3.5.0.7171, SDR 1.18.5, and firmware 1.2.5.6.
The laptop is a Toshiba, APCI-X64 based, 2.4 Ghz dual, running Vista OPS.
Attempted to install SDR 2.0 Beta and FW driver V3.5.2.8028 unsuccessfully
- the computer would not recognize the F3K. Removed from program files as
recommended and tried to reinstalled 3.5.0.7171 and SDR 1.18.5. unsuccessfully
- the computer would not recognize the F3K. Had to go back to the original
installation disk which came with the F3K and run 3.4.0. 4877 to get the
computer to install the F3K. It will not do this with any later version I have
in the computer or any downloads from the Flex Web site.
Been pulling my hair out for 4 days fighting this - any help will be much
appreciated.
