Brad, 2.0.19 is an "RC" version, meaning it is really darn close to being the next release if there aren't any bugs in it. I would recommend that you stick with 1.18.6 until RC2 comes out, because it will be much closer to be "golden" than RC1. There is still a minor problem with Wide Band Image Rejection that may or may not adversely affect you, but it is still an outstanding issue.
On the other hand, if you master 1.18.6 in short order, then by all means take the plunge into the clear cool waters of PowerSDR 2.0.x -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Brad A. After growing pains ( I have been QRT for > 20 years), including getting the power company to cure a horrendous line noise generator near me, I can now use my Flex 5000a and my 80 Meter full wave loop with my homebrew balanced-balanced tuner a la Rich Measures and hear more than 1KW plus stations over the noise. My utility, The Southern Company, DBA Alabama Power Company, took only 1 week to find the generator and fix it and send me a followup Email, once I had tracked down the trouble and informed them ( I had thought the bands were in terrible shape, RF noise wise, at first. Kudos to them). Question: Should I download 2.0.19 and learn the new software or should I still use PSDR v1.18.16 to learn more about the rig's operation? The NR is PHENOMENAL and the filters are wonderful!!! My nice new PC by Neal is a 6 core AMD Phenom Thuban 3.2 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Win 64 Pro with 2 1 Gb HDDs and a 128 Gb SSD and AMD/ATI 5750 Video card (shameless plug for Neal Campbell - he didn't know I would say this). 2 Monitors for extra software. Wicked fast. I am in love with this rig. Brad A.
