Now then, how about porting that "auto centering" over to the Digi TX filters? Or is that being ungrateful?
Actually it isn't. It is on my list of thing to try and hack together (I am in no way a programmer). I can foresee a TX filter mode for DIGIx where you enter the TX filter bandwidth and it creates the filter on the fly using the RX center frequency. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: Jim Jannuzzo [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2011 12:15 PM To: Tim Ellison; Ken; [email protected] Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Passband in digital mode The new Digi mode RX filters (centered around the click tune offset) is spectacular for quickly eliminating everything but the signal you just clicked on. I've now set up corresponding TX filters in TX profiles that mimic this action. For example, I have a "DIGU100" TX profile with a TX filter set at 1450 (low) and 1550 (high). There are times that this tight TX filtering enhances my digital courtesy to others around me on the band. It sounds like Tim programmed himself silly in the last week before the RC1 was let loose. Even so, it's been one of my favorite parts of RC1. Now then, how about porting that "auto centering" over to the Digi TX filters? Or is that being ungrateful? The yellow lines are the definition of the TRANSMIT filter, as defined in the TX Profile, and have nothing to do with the digital mode receive filters. For digital modes, only the behavior of the RX filters width and alignment behavior have changed. When running digital modes, there is a parameter called the Click Tune Offset, which is the number of Hz offset from the VFO frequency that your ASFK digital mode program utilizes as a default center frequency (called the sweet spot for Fldigi). So if you click on a digital mode signal, the VFO will change so that signal is offset from the VFO by the Click Tune Offset value, which is 1500 Hz for DIGU. Previously, the digital mode RX filters were the same as USB/LSB and were fairly useless for narrow mode digital signals. Also the center frequency (CF) of those filters varied too. So the change in 2.0.19RC1 was to align the digital mode filter's CF with the Click Tune Offset value. The result is if you click tune a signal that ends up being 1500 Hz offset from the VFO, the digital mode RX filter is centered exactly 1500 Hz too, placing the filter in signal of interest directly in the center of the filter. If you want your digital mode TX filter to be centered in the RX filter, then you have to define a TX Profile where the CF of the TX filter matches the Click Tune Offset value, which by default is 1500 Hz. Hopefully there will be some additional changes to the digital modes in PowerSDR in addition to the RX filter behavior change. They are just not at the top of the priority list. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ken Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2011 10:33 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Flexradio] Passband in digital mode I don't understand one of the changes in RC1 when I go to digital. I'm not very good with describing things, so I thought I'd put it on video. http://www.kgolubski.com/F5KII.wmv Any explanation would be appreciated.
