The one thing I miss the most about my old rig compared to the F5KA is
having a variable notch filter.the automatic one is virtually useless
against deliberate QRMers (and there are a LOT of them around!).this came to
prominence in my desire for one during my recent operation as 3D2A.
Passband tuning is another great feature missing.primarily for us CW buffs.
Food for thought?
On the plus side.the 25Hz bandpass really came in handy for the horrendous
Euro pileups!! On the rare occasion when I worked SSB.
I received a lot of compliments on the audio quality and punch. All I did
was change the LOW to 300HZ, the HIGH to 2900HZ, and boosted the center
spectrum by one level. Used minimal compression. Mic was Heil H5 element.
A Flex-Radio will be my ONLY rig on future dxpeditions.but, I will probably
like to get a 3000 and leave the 5000 at home.
