Has anyone figured out how to use the 5000 equipped with 2m/70cm option as a 2m
IF for transverters. I am now using the 28mhz IF I/O with great success
addressing and defining the bands via the transverter menu. I also have an
external interface box controlled by the Flexfire wire port utilizing the K3TUF
UCB interface that works great to select various antenna and PTT
configurations. Those familiar with the transverter form will see that the 2m
and 70cm line items are locked (grayed out) preventing the user from
reassigning those bands to use as a transverter assignments on other bands.
Example: I wish to use the 2m port to drive my 2304 transverter that requires
2m as an IF. I can not reassign 2m to another tab and utilize 2m at low power
(amp box unchecked). Why did Flex prohibit users from being able to configure
those bands? It seems they did not realize that most UHF transverters do not
use 28mhz as an IF but use 2m. I realize that I can order a Demi 144/28int
intermediate transverter to transvert my transverters. Does that make sense
when Flex already has 2m available? I also have looked at DDutil to perform a
CAT control but appears that will not work. Hope to hear from others who have
accomplished using 2m as an IF.
