Tim, What is the downside of selecting one of the three "Safe Modes" as opposed to "Normal" (assuming that my DPCs are low enough)?

It is experiencing a long duration DPC latency event that is in excess of 1500 us and the Firewire buffer is being over-run. You can use DPCLAT (http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml) or LatencyMon (http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon) if you are running Vista or Win7. You can try doing the following. 1.) Open up the Firewire control panel icon on your desktop and change the operation mode to SafeMode 3 2.) Update all your PC's hardware drivers and BIOS to the latest versions. Do not use hardware drivers gotten from Microsoft Update. 3.) If the PC is a laptop, disable the wireless, Bluetooth and LAN adapters. These device are probably the ones responsible for the long duration DPC hit.
