Would a Restore Point help?
If he had a Restore Point created prior to this failure, would it be
able to recreate/fix any corrupted file?

OK.
First - You experienced a power surge - new information. If PowerSDR
was operational at the time and the computer rebooted, then your
database is most likely trashed and has bad values in it. This is
probably causing the error you reported.
Second - The database is an XML file that is created AFTER you install
and run the software. By design is is NOT deleted when you uninstall
or over written when you reinstall PowerSDR, therefore if the data
base is trashed from a previous event (see item #1 above), the after
you re-install the software, PowerSDR will us the existing (trashed)
database as it always survives on your system after a software
re/install.
You have opened a HelpDesk ticket and that is exactly what you should
do. Dudley will be able to walk you through some structured
troubleshooting steps to determine if the issue is just database or
software related or if there is any residual hardware damage from the
power surge event. Hopefully the issue is not the later. GL OM

Tim: I suffered a power surge yesterday and now I can not get to the
set
up window. My computer does not see the 3000. I have applied for a
service ticket, but would like your thoughts before I box the rig up and
send it back to Austin. I am trying to understand why uninstalling
software, reinstalling it and re flashing firmware has no effect.
Would
you think that this is possibly a fatal hardware issue in the 3000 or
maybe the firewire card?

PowerSDR does not utilize ini type files. It sounds like you have
invalid state data in your database. Without knowing any of the
additional information provided with the error message, I can't say
for
certain which data element has a bad string format.
BTW, reloading the software will never resolve issues like this, as
the
database always survives a software reinstall.
You need to open the Setup windowand click on the Factory Default
button
in the lower left hand corner to reset your database.

Hi guys, I need a bit of help. My FLEX-3000 has been working fine
but yesterday
I got this error when I tried to boot-up the Flex.
"Input string was not in a correct format". I think that it maybe
the ".ini"
file or something getting read in.
I do make a backup and could recover the input file. Any help in
locating my
problem. I know I could always reload the software if necessary.
I am using v2.5.3
