I would suggest that you get yours running and then you will be able to
talk your friend through a checkout. If your friend lives close enough,
bring him over to try yours to see how he likes it before he buys one of
his own. I have more than twenty years' experience assisting a blind
ham buddy. I would say that his capabilities and mindset will be key to
whether or not he will be able to operate the 3000 with this device.
Good luck and bless you for helping.

I just had a fascinating thought about Flex Radio, Your input might be of
help. I just bought the Hercules DJ console and with the help of Neil I am
going to put it into the flex program. Now, I have a friend who would love to
have a flex 3000 but he is blind. The way I see it is that he could memorize
all the buttons on the DJ device and run a Flex 3000. I realize flex is a very
visual program but it goes far beyond that. The Receiver on this radio is
without question the best of any radio I know of. This is especially true in
the AM windows which is what he and I both love (AM). The Transmitter is
without any question the best AM of any radio they make. This of course does
not include tube rigs. Ask any AMer and they will tell you this. Now he is a
Ham, he does get on HF, he has used an amplifier. So, any reason you can think
of why he could not run a flex 3000 with the DJ Controller?? I will have him
play with mine once set up. This could possibly open up the mark
et for the visually impaired. What do you think?
