Hi Joel.

This laptop doesn't have a Firewire port on the motherboard.  Firewire is
kinda old school I/O.  I did this exact same thing with my previous laptop
and Flex 3000.  Worked absolutely 100% perfect.

Buy a cheap (I forgot exactly, but around $25 or so) Firewire card that
slides into the Express Card slot I mentioned in my original message.  I'm
not a computer engineer, but this slot gives the Firewire card low level
access to the data bus without additional interrupts to contend with.  Much
better than using a motherboard Firewire port (if you even have one).

It's a great solution for Flex radios that NEED a Firewire connection.  You
don't find many really nice laptops that even have an Express Card slot.
That's why this is a great laptop to have if you want to do anything
portable with your Flex 3000 or 5000!
