Hey Craig,
It's quite understandable that you need to move on. You have done a
tremendous amount of work in FlexWiki Core (I've been following the
mailing list for quite some time) and sometimes it's nice with a change.
Since we're also expecting a second child in a couple of months I
totally understand your family situation.
The toddler will be running around you craving your attention all the
time, the infant screaming because the diaper needs to be changed, and
the wife yells from the living room that she needs another beer so she
can watch the next episode of Dr. Phil... yeah.. we all go through it at
some stage in our lives... :P
So when you're standing there, changing the infants diaper while
everyone is screaming and yelling, you can dream about how relaxing it
was to do some rewrite of FlexWiki Core code, adding confusing security
options and answering never-ending questions from the FlexWiki
community... :-)
Good luck with whatever you do Craig!
Regards
Anders

Subject: [Flexwiki-users] Moving on
It has been something like four years that I've been working on
FlexWiki. Not very quickly at times, but I do at least try to put in
around an hour every day. For quite a while now, that hour has become
more a chore than something I look forward to. But I was committed to
completing the tasks I said I would take on, so I kept going.
Well, now I'm basically done. We just (finally!) shipped FlexWiki 2.0.
I'm also feature-complete on output caching, and have only to check it
in.
All this is by way of saying: I'm leaving the project. It's in a good
place technically, we've got some very solid technical people doing
great work on the app, and more and more it's someone besides me
answering user emails. I feel absolutely great about the people that
remain being able to maintain and improve the product. There are, of
course, any number of things that I'd love to fix or add to FlexWiki,
but the truth is that I'm just burned out. Plus, our second child is due
to arrive in a few weeks, and I think it would be foolish to assume even
my limited free time is going to survive that.
Again, you guys are doing great work - keep it up. You're welcome to
email me directly if something comes up that pertains to the code I've
written, but I'm going to be signing off all the lists and removing my
project admin rights - without a clean break I'm likely to keep taking
on "just one more thing." :-)
