Hi Anthonio
FlexWiki is not responsible for the development and administration or use of
the SQL Membership Provider for ASP.Net 2.0. This is a tool available from
Microsoft that FlexWiki have integrated into the UI to provide
authentication and role for those experienced with using this provider.
The reason that FlexWiki does not provide detailed instructions for the use
of this add-on is that there are a large number of possible scenarios for
how this should be used - and needs an individual with the relevant
experience to perform the setup and configuration and to write the
deployment and management instructions for the integration with FlexWiki.
It appears that you have deployed the Membership Provider with only the
basic configuration. That means that it requires an SQL Administrator to set
the IsApproved flag to true in the table 'aspnet_Users'. The email referred
to will only be sent if you have configured FlexWiki to send emails with a
valid smtp server.
In the default configuration of FlexWiki if you allow users to self-create
accounts then an administrator must always set the IsApproved flag before
they can actually login. It is possible to modify the CreateUser page and
alter one of the variables on that page to support auto-approval of
self-registrations, but an individual with security experience should
evaluate that approach before making such a change (also it will have to be
redone after every update as the new page will reset it back to the original
value). Alternatively you can use the CreateUserWizard in the
WebsiteAdministration tool (available via the Web menu in Visual Studio),
but then you assign the password for the user and need to advise the user of
that password - they are not able to change it and can only request it if an
smtp server has been configured to support email requests from the server.
In order to be able to access the SQL Table you will need to have the SQL
Management Tools installed (Enterprise Manager for SQL 2000 or SQL Server
Management Studio for SQL Express or SQL 2005).
In order to use the WebsiteAdministration you must have a version of Visual
Studio installed that can connect to a website.
