Success!!! My clue came by using ldd command:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# ldd $FG_ROOT/src/Main/fgfs
linux-gate.so.1 => (0x00e0c000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0
(0x4cae2000)
libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0x4c93f000)
libglut.so.3 => not found
I did not know that FG was expecting libraries to be
in /usr/lib/. I recompiled freeglut to place files
there, rather that /usr/local/lib (or other odd
places) and FG started right up.
